Western Artworks
Western art and architecture history spans from the classical ideals of ancient Greece and Rome, through the religiously inspired works of the Medieval period, to the revival of humanism and classical forms during the Renaissance. The Baroque and Rococo periods followed, marked by ornate and dramatic styles, which gave way to the rational order of Neoclassicism and the emotional intensity of Romanticism. The 19th and 20th centuries saw the rise of Modernism, with its emphasis on abstraction and innovation, and Postmodernism, which embraced eclecticism and a mix of historical styles. Throughout these periods, Western art and architecture have continuously evolved, reflecting the cultural and intellectual shifts of their times.
